Catacombs is a historical archaeological site located in Alexandria, and is considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Middle Ages.
Cemetery consists of a series of Alexandrian tombs, statues and artifacts from the Pharaonic funeral cult with Hellenistic and early effects of the Romanian Empire. Because of the time period, and many of the features of the catacombs merge Greek, Romanian and Egyptian cultural points, and some statues in the Egyptian style, but bear clothes and hair style Roman shares, while the other features a similar style. Circular stairway, which was often used to transport dead bodies in the middle of the bottom of it, leads to the bottom of the graves that have been through the tunnel in the rock era of the Antonine emperors (2 AD). Then used the facility as a burial chamber of the 2nd century to the 4th century, before being discovered in 1900 when it was struck accidentally on a donkey in the shaft access. So far, three have been found on the coffins, along with other human and animal remains that were added later. It is believed that the catacombs, the only goal of one family, but it is not clear why the site was expanded to house several other individuals. And the catacombs of Kom Alhqavp is, according to some lists, and also one of the Seven Wonders of the Middle Ages in the world. One of the features of more than ugly catacombs is what is called the Hall of Caracalla. According to tradition, this is the burial chamber of the mass slaughter of humans and animals by order of the Emperor Caracalla.
